About CECA

The Consumer Energy Council of America (CECA) is the senior public interest organization in the U.S. focusing on the energy, telecommunications, and other network industries providing essential services to consumers. A non-profit §501(c)(3) organization based in Washington, DC, CECA is dedicated to promoting public policy positions that advance the best interest of residential and small business consumers of essential energy services.

With a focus on exploring the areas of common interest and narrowing the differences among stakeholders, CECA has developed a nationally recognized consensus-building process for resolving complex and contentious issues.

What does CECA do?

  • CECA convenes forums on major and often contentious issues related to the network industries. These forums, usually lasting between six and twelve months, bring together the major stakeholders - utility and energy industry executives, members of Congress, officials of DOE and other federal agencies, state public utility commissioners, residential and small business users, scientists and academics, consumer advocates, and environmental leaders - to discuss issues before new policies are made.
  • CECA develops reports on these highly important issues. For nearly thirty years, CECA's projects and reports have been on the cutting edge of public polices that affect consumers and small businesses.
  • CECA provides essential information for consumers to make informed decisions regarding fuel choices, energy conservation, and new legislative and regulatory developments.

Through consensus-building, outreach, advocacy, and cutting-edge research, CECA is the foremost energy authority working on behalf of consumers and sensible and responsible public policy.
